The more users chat with AI travel co-pilot, Wanderboat, the better its personalised holiday advice gets. Olivia Palamountain reports
Wanderboat is an AI travel companion that creates personalised itineraries, dining and sightseeing suggestions, and real-time travel assistance.
According to the California-based tech company, what sets Wanderboat apart from its competitors is that it seeks to get to know each user, learning about their specific preferences based on their engagement with the tool.
This means it can provide enhanced, tailored information, as opposed to single or stock responses.
In a bid to streamline the travel planning process, Wanderboat’s search engine integrates websites, video content, social media and review sites.
The platform uses both a free-form chat and drag and paste interface, which means users can simply paste a travel guide link or attach a file to receive a comprehensive travel itinerary in seconds.
Currently in Beta, Wanderboat’s AI-powered chat guides travellers through every step of their journey, from day trips to week-long adventure abroad.
The chat agent offers two distinct personas: one that builds detailed, custom itineraries and a second that acts as a local insider to answer questions and offer in-the-moment inspiration.
The planning tool is complemented by a community where users can connect with fellow travellers and share experiences, fostering a human-centric side to the platform.
“People have become more isolated behind their screens. Technology can be a nutrient that helps people reconnect with the real world and I built Wanderboat with that intention,” says You Wu, founder and CEO of Wanderboat. “We’re taking a human approach to AI by fostering creativity and exploration, easing the travel-planning burden so people can spend less time researching, more time experiencing.”
Wanderboat’s technology has been developed by AI scientists from industry giants including Microsoft and Meta.
The proprietary AI technology has a three-part model consisting of an orchestration system, a search engine and a personalisation engine.
